Problems we help evaluate

SoftWave Therapy & Chiropractic for Shoulder Pain in Yukon, OK

the most complicated joint you own.

The shoulder is the most mobile joint in the body, which is exactly why it is such a common trouble spot. It borrows stability from the neck, upper back, and core — so shoulder pain often has accomplices.

We evaluate the shoulder itself and everything that feeds it: how the neck and upper back move, how the shoulder blade is being controlled, and what your training, work, or sleep is doing to the tissue. Dr. Minard is trained in extremity adjusting, and SoftWave therapy gives us a strong option for tendon problems that have stopped responding to rest.

What people commonly experience

Shoulder patterns we evaluate often:

  • Pain reaching overhead — the top shelf, the press, the serve
  • Ache when lying on that side at night
  • Weakness or hesitation lifting anything away from your body
  • A pinch at the front of the shoulder with reaching or pressing
  • A shoulder that is gradually freezing — losing range a little each month
  • Pain that started with a gym program, a throwing season, or a trade-job workload

Common contributing factors

Common underlying drivers:

  • Rotator cuff strain or tendinopathy — the most frequent offender
  • Posture-related impingement, where the shoulder blade stops moving well
  • Repetitive overhead load: lifting, throwing, painting, stocking shelves
  • Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis), which follows its own slower timeline
  • Neck and upper back restriction shifting stress into the shoulder
  • An old injury that healed stiff instead of healed strong

When evaluation is appropriate

An evaluation makes sense when overhead movement hurts, when the shoulder is disrupting sleep, or when the pain has outlasted a reasonable rest-and-wait. Tendon problems respond best to early, appropriate loading and stimulation — not months of avoidance.

Come in promptly after a fall or accident, or if there is true weakness, a visible deformity, or the shoulder has rapidly frozen. Some tears and dislocations need imaging and a different door first.

Which of our services may be considered

Every plan starts with the evaluation — never with a modality. Depending on what we find, one or more of these may make sense:

When referral or medical evaluation may be necessary

Suspected full-thickness tears, dislocations, fractures, or a rapidly progressing frozen shoulder may need orthopedic evaluation or imaging before hands-on care. We will tell you when the shoulder needs a different kind of appointment first.

What the first visit looks like

We test the shoulder through its actual range — reaching, pressing, rotating — and check the neck and upper back that feed it. You leave knowing whether this looks like a tendon problem, a joint restriction problem, or something that needs imaging, and what the honest path forward looks like.

Frequently asked questions

Does SoftWave help rotator cuff pain?

SoftWave is widely used for tendon-related shoulder pain, including rotator cuff tendinopathy. Many conditions need three to five treatments, and some people notice change after one or two. The evaluation determines whether your shoulder is a SoftWave case.

Can a frozen shoulder improve without surgery?

Frozen shoulder often resolves over time with the right support, though its timeline is famously slow. Conservative care focuses on keeping the shoulder as mobile and comfortable as possible through that process — and on confirming the diagnosis is actually frozen shoulder.

Should I stop training my upper body?

Rarely completely. The right answer is usually modified loading, not total rest — tendons and shoulders need appropriate stimulus to recover. We will help you find the version of training your shoulder can tolerate while it heals.
