Problems we help evaluate

Chiropractic & SoftWave for Sports & Overuse Injuries in Yukon, OK

train hard. recover smarter.

Overuse injuries rarely announce themselves. They arrive as a whisper — an elbow that aches after grip work, an Achilles that is stiff the first quarter mile — and most active people talk themselves out of addressing them until the whisper becomes a shout.

We work with lifters, runners, CrossFit athletes, golfers, and weekend competitors across Yukon, Piedmont and Northwest Oklahoma City. The goal is never to take you away from the thing you love — it is to fix the pattern so you can keep doing it, with SoftWave therapy for the tendon tissue and chiropractic care for the mechanics that caused the overload.

What people commonly experience

Overuse patterns we evaluate:

  • Tendon pain that warms up fine, then bites a few hours after training
  • Tennis or golfer's elbow — pain gripping, lifting, or shaking hands
  • Achilles stiffness in the first minutes of a run or the first steps of the morning
  • Shin splints that flare with running volume
  • Shoulder or hip pain that shows up with one specific lift or swing
  • A lingering injury from last season that never fully went quiet

Common contributing factors

Overuse injuries are load-management problems. The usual contributors:

  • A training volume that jumped faster than the tissue could adapt
  • Technique or mechanics loading one tissue instead of sharing the work
  • Recovery debt — sleep, stress, and under-fueled training days
  • Mobility restrictions forcing a joint to borrow range somewhere else
  • An old injury that changed your movement and never got retrained
  • Season transitions — court to track, gym to golf, desk to weekend warrior

When evaluation is appropriate

An evaluation makes sense when a niggle has lasted more than two or three weeks, when it is changing your technique, or when it keeps showing up at the same point in every session. Tendons respond best to early, appropriate loading and stimulation — late is much slower.

Suspected fractures, sudden pops with loss of function, and complete tears need urgent orthopedic evaluation. We will tell you when your problem needs a different door first.

Which of our services may be considered

Every plan starts with the evaluation — never with a modality. Depending on what we find, one or more of these may make sense:

When referral or medical evaluation may be necessary

When the picture suggests a fracture, a complete tear, or something that needs surgical opinion or advanced imaging, we will say so clearly and refer you to the right specialist — then help with the rehab side afterward.

What the first visit looks like

We want the full story: your training, the moment the problem shows up, your schedule and recovery. The exam tests the tissue and the movement pattern around it. You leave with an honest read on severity, a plan that keeps as much training as possible, and a realistic timeline.

Frequently asked questions

Can I keep training with a tendon injury?

Usually yes — with modified load. Complete rest tends to make tendons weaker, not better. We will show you what your tissue tolerates and build from there rather than benching you.

Why do tendons take so long to heal?

Tendons have a limited blood supply and adapt slowly, which is why they respond to consistent, appropriate stimulus over weeks rather than days. SoftWave therapy exists partly to stimulate that healing response in tissue that is otherwise slow to change.

How is this different from just stretching it?

Tendon problems respond to load management, not stretching — stretching a reactive tendon often makes it worse. The evaluation identifies whether you are dealing with a tendon, a joint, or a muscle problem, because they need genuinely different plans.
