Problems we help evaluate

SoftWave Therapy & Chiropractic for Knee Pain in Yukon, OK

the joint that pays for everything above it.

The knee sits between the hip and the foot and absorbs the decisions both of them make. That is why knee pain is so common — and why it so often gets treated only where it hurts.

We evaluate the knee and its neighbors: how you walk and run, how the hips and ankles are contributing, and what the tissue itself is doing. SoftWave therapy offers a needle-free option for degenerative and tendon-related knee pain, and Dr. Minard is trained in extremity adjusting for the joints around the problem.

What people commonly experience

Knee patterns we evaluate:

  • Pain on stairs, especially going down
  • Ache under or around the kneecap after running, squatting, or long sitting
  • Swelling that shows up after activity and lingers a day or two
  • A knee that feels unstable or briefly gives way
  • Morning stiffness and creaking that fits an arthritis pattern
  • Pain that appeared right after a training program jumped in volume

Common contributing factors

Common contributing factors:

  • Patellofemoral tracking problems — the kneecap not gliding the way it should
  • Early or advanced arthritis in the joint
  • Patellar or quadriceps tendinopathy from repetitive load
  • Hip strength and ankle mobility deficits dumping extra work onto the knee
  • A sudden jump in running volume, new shoes, or new surfaces
  • An old injury — an ACL, a meniscus — that changed how the knee loads years ago

When evaluation is appropriate

An evaluation makes sense when knee pain is limiting stairs, training, or sleep; when swelling keeps returning; or when the pattern has outlasted a couple of weeks of sensible rest. Arthritis and tendon problems both tend to do better with early, structured conservative care.

Seek orthopedic or urgent evaluation for a knee that locks, swells rapidly after a twist, or gave way with a pop — those patterns need imaging first.

Which of our services may be considered

Every plan starts with the evaluation — never with a modality. Depending on what we find, one or more of these may make sense:

When referral or medical evaluation may be necessary

Locking, rapid swelling, suspected meniscus or ligament tears, and night pain that is not mechanical all deserve orthopedic eyes and imaging before hands-on care. We will be direct when the knee needs a different appointment than ours.

What the first visit looks like

We watch how you walk and move, test the knee through its range, and check the hips and ankles above and below it. You leave with a clear explanation of what we found, whether SoftWave, chiropractic care, or both make sense — and an honest word if imaging should come first.

Frequently asked questions

Can knee arthritis be helped without injections?

Often, yes. SoftWave therapy is used specifically for arthritic joint pain, and conservative care that improves how the knee loads can reduce symptoms meaningfully for many people. It is not a cure for arthritis — we are honest about what improvement looks like.

Does SoftWave work on knees?

SoftWave is applied to painful and degenerative knee conditions, and many patients tolerate it well with virtually no downtime. Whether your specific knee is a good candidate is exactly what the evaluation is for.

Should I run through knee pain?

Not blindly. Some patterns tolerate continued running with modified load; others get meaningfully worse. The exam tells us which one yours is, and we would rather adjust the plan now than manage a six-month setback later.
