Problems we help evaluate
Chiropractic Care for Neck Pain in Yukon, OK
stop stretching it away.
Neck pain is one of the most common reasons people end up in our office — and one of the most misread. It gets blamed on sleeping wrong when the real driver is hours at a laptop, a whiplash from years ago, or a nervous system that never fully powers down.
We look at how your neck actually moves, how your shoulders and upper back are compensating, and how stress and sleep feed the tension. Patients come to us from Yukon, Piedmont, Surrey Hills and Northwest Oklahoma City, often after years of stretching it away and having it return.
What people commonly experience
Neck pain we evaluate regularly looks like:
- Stiffness that makes checking your blind spot a whole-body maneuver
- A tight band across the shoulders and the base of the skull
- An ache at the base of the neck that builds through a workday of screen time
- Tension that climbs upward and turns into a headache
- A sharp catch with certain rotations or looking over your shoulder
- Clicking or grinding with movement that was never there before
Common contributing factors
Neck pain is usually a load problem. Common contributors:
- Desk and phone posture that keeps the neck loaded for hours at a stretch
- An old whiplash or collision injury that never fully settled
- Sleep position and pillow support that work against you for eight hours a night
- Upper back and shoulder compensation shifting work up the chain
- Stress — the muscles across the neck and shoulders are where most people carry it
- Age-related change in the cervical joints and discs
When evaluation is appropriate
When stiffness has lasted beyond a week or two, when turning your head has become a daily calculation, or when the tension has started generating headaches, an evaluation makes sense.
Come in sooner if you notice numbness, tingling, or weakness traveling into the arm or hand. Nerve involvement deserves a closer look, not a stretch and a wait.
Which of our services may be considered
Every plan starts with the evaluation — never with a modality. Depending on what we find, one or more of these may make sense:
When referral or medical evaluation may be necessary
Numbness that is spreading, progressive weakness in the arm or hand, neck pain after significant trauma, or pain accompanied by fever or unexplained illness may call for imaging or medical evaluation first. We will say so directly if that is your situation.
What the first visit looks like
Expect a real conversation about your workday, sleep, stress and training, followed by a functional exam of the neck, shoulders and upper back. We explain what we found in plain language, show you what care would look like, and only recommend what we would recommend to our own family.
Frequently asked questions
Do you actually adjust the neck?
When the exam supports it, yes — using techniques suited to your comfort and presentation, including gentle low-force options. Dr. Minard is trained in diversified, specific prone, and upper cervical techniques, and every adjustment is tailored to the person.
Why does my neck pain keep coming back?
Recurring neck pain usually means the underlying pattern — posture load, an old injury, stress, or sleep — was never addressed. That is why our first question is why it keeps returning, not just how to quiet it this week.
Can neck pain cause headaches?
Frequently. Tension and joint restriction in the upper neck can refer pain upward into the head. Read our guide to headaches to see how we sort that out.
