Problems we help evaluate

Chiropractic Care for Headaches in Yukon, OK

many headaches start in the neck.

For a lot of the people we see, the headache isn't the mystery — the neck is. Tension and joint restriction in the upper cervical spine refer pain upward into the skull with remarkable reliability, and no amount of medication teaches the neck to move better.

We evaluate the relationship between your neck, your posture load, your jaw, and your stress load. Some headaches are purely cervicogenic — born in the neck. Others are tension-type or migraine patterns that the neck makes worse. Sorting that out is the whole point of the first visit.

What people commonly experience

Headache patterns people bring to us:

  • A band of pressure that builds through the workday and peaks by evening
  • Ache starting at the base of the skull and climbing behind one eye
  • Headaches that reliably follow long stretches at a computer or phone
  • Headaches that show up alongside neck tension and shoulder tightness
  • A pattern that has quietly escalated the pain-medication habit
  • Headaches that arrive with jaw clenching or nighttime grinding

Common contributing factors

Common contributors we evaluate:

  • Joint restriction and muscle tension in the upper cervical spine
  • Forward-head screen posture that loads the neck for hours
  • Jaw clenching and grinding — often stress-driven, often nocturnal
  • Stress and sleep debt lowering the threshold where headaches fire
  • Old whiplash or head injuries with long echo
  • The usual suspects — hydration, skipped meals, caffeine swings — that deserve a mention without taking over the plan

When evaluation is appropriate

When headaches have become a weekly event, when they consistently trail neck tension, or when the medication routine has started to feel like part of the problem, it is time for an evaluation.

A sudden, severe "worst headache of your life," a headache with fever and a stiff neck, headache with vision or speech changes or weakness, or a brand-new pattern after age fifty needs prompt medical evaluation — not chiropractic first. We will always point that out clearly.

Which of our services may be considered

Every plan starts with the evaluation — never with a modality. Depending on what we find, one or more of these may make sense:

When referral or medical evaluation may be necessary

Red-flag headaches — sudden and severe, with neurologic changes, fever, or a new pattern later in life — go to medical care first, and we will say so without hesitation. For migraine-dominant patterns, we are happy to work alongside your physician rather than pretending chiropractic is the whole answer.

What the first visit looks like

We map your headache: where it starts, what time of day it builds, what it follows, and how your neck, jaw and shoulders behave on exam. You leave knowing which type of pattern we think we are dealing with and what a trial of care would actually look like — or an honest referral if it should not be us.

Frequently asked questions

Can chiropractic help headaches?

For cervicogenic and many tension-type headaches, yes — many patients report fewer and less intense headaches when the upper neck moves and functions better. Migraine-dominant patterns vary more, and we are straightforward about that.

What's a cervicogenic headache?

A headache that originates in the neck. Joint restriction and muscle tension in the upper cervical spine refer pain into the head — typically starting at the base of the skull and often favoring one side.

How many visits will I need?

It depends on how long the pattern has been established and how much of it is neck-driven. Some people notice change within the first few visits; chronic patterns take longer. You will get an honest estimate, and a re-check, not an open-ended plan.
