Problems we help evaluate

Spinal Decompression & Chiropractic for Disc Problems in Yukon, OK

treat the person, not the picture.

Herniated, bulging, degenerating — disc problems are some of the most feared and most misunderstood words in back care. And the fear is often worse than the findings.

Discs don't slip. They bulge, herniate, dehydrate, and sometimes heal. Many people have disc findings on imaging with zero pain, which is why we treat the person, not the picture. Our job is to reduce pressure and irritation around the disc, restore motion the discs depend on, and give you a realistic picture of what conservative care can and cannot do.

What people commonly experience

Disc-related complaints we evaluate:

  • Deep, localized back pain that clearly worsens with sitting or bending forward
  • Pain that refers into the glute or leg — or across the shoulder blade, depending on the level
  • Numbness or tingling along a specific band of the arm or leg
  • Pain that spikes with coughing, sneezing, or straining
  • Morning stiffness that lasts well past the first hour of the day
  • A disc diagnosis from years ago that still dictates everything you're willing to do

Common contributing factors

What stresses discs over time:

  • Years of repetitive flexion and loading — sitting, lifting, bending
  • Age-related dehydration and degeneration of the disc itself
  • A single acute trauma — a fall, a lift, a collision
  • A core and hip system that never got retrained after an earlier episode
  • Long stretches of sedentary time between bursts of heavy demand
  • Prior flare-ups that were quieted but never actually rehabilitated

When evaluation is appropriate

An evaluation makes sense when pain follows a disc-like pattern — sitting intolerance, radiation, straining pain — or when an old disc diagnosis has started talking again. Conservative care is the appropriate first step for most disc-related pain, and starting it early matters.

If you have progressive weakness, worsening numbness, or any change in bladder or bowel control, seek medical care urgently before anything else.

Which of our services may be considered

Every plan starts with the evaluation — never with a modality. Depending on what we find, one or more of these may make sense:

When referral or medical evaluation may be necessary

If your exam or history suggests a significant nerve deficit, progressive neurologic change, or something that belongs in a surgeon's office, we will tell you — plainly, and without trying to keep you. Most disc problems never need surgery, but the ones that do deserve to get there quickly.

What the first visit looks like

We take the history seriously — old imaging, old diagnoses, what has and has not worked. The exam maps how your spine and nerves are actually behaving now. You leave understanding what your disc is doing today, what conservative care could change, and what the honest alternatives are.

Frequently asked questions

My MRI shows a herniated disc. Do I need surgery?

Most people with herniated discs improve with conservative care and never need surgery. Imaging findings have to be matched to your symptoms and exam — plenty of pain-free people have disc findings. We will give you an honest read on where you likely fall.

Can a bulging disc heal?

Discs can improve. Bulges can reduce, symptoms can resolve, and function can return — though the timeline varies widely. Conservative care aims to create the conditions for that: less pressure, better motion, and smarter loading.

Is decompression safe for disc problems?

KDT decompression is a gentle, controlled therapy, and part of every evaluation is confirming it is appropriate for your specific disc and presentation. If it is not the right fit, we will tell you before you spend a dollar on it.
